ACTIVE AND FIT

Butchart Gardens Walk

This is an opportunity for a moderately paced stroll through Butchart Gardens to take in and enjoy all the beauty these world class gardens have to offer during all the seasons. Our walk ends with coffee in the Butchart Gardens Coffee Shop or on their patio depending on the weather. If you plan to participate regularly, purchasing an annual pass for the cost of just 2 visits will entitle you to visit the park as often as you wish.

Meets: every 4th Friday of the month at 9:30am, with walk to begin at 9:45am.
All COVID 19 protocols, as set out, and in place, at Butchart Gardens will be followed.

SATURDAY MORNING BRISK WALK

We meet every Saturday morning for a 1 ½ hour walk followed by coffee.  This is a wonderful way to get to know people, get some exercise, and learn about our different Victoria neighbourhoods.

Meets:   Every Saturday 9:30am – rain or shine!

Saturday Morning Leisurely Walk

This activity has been transitioned to a self-guided walk for leisurely, moderate or other speed walkers starting at 10 am Saturday mornings, followed by a meet up for coffee at 10:30 am at a coffee house.  Members are invited to show up at the designated meeting location and link up with another or a few members to go for a walk at your ideal pace and then return for coffee.  Or you can chose to just join the group for coffee and skip the walk.

Meets:   Every Saturday 10:00am – rain or shine!

Friday Evening Walk

These 1-1/2 hr. walks start June 21, 2024.Partners are welcome and the pace will be ‘keep moving’.  There can be a break mid-way.   The starting point is the corner of Fort and Richmond in front of the Forbes IDA pharmacy.   (There are several buses that stop at that location.   If you come by car, there is usually 2 hour free parking on Jubilee between Oak Bay and Leighton.)

Meets:  First and third Fridays of the month at 6:30 p.m.

Emergency Readiness Group

Did you know Victoria has a one in three probability of a damaging earthquake in the next 50 years? It’s not a matter of if an earthquake will happen, but when. But it’s not all doom and gloom - preparing for an emergency can be fun and interesting, and you don’t have to do it on your own. The club’s Emergency Readiness Activity Group – relevant for all sorts of emergencies, not just earthquakes. Check out also the Emergency Readiness Forum on the website - your go-to place for useful information and website links for members' reference.

Meets: several events are organized through the year for new club members (First Years), members of the activity group and subscribers to the Emergency Readiness Forum.
